Cross boarder insecurity
100 years cattle rusting problems in Agoro and Madi Opei Lamwo District.
Cattle rustling in Agoro and madi opei is more than two century problem.
As a grand son of rumeo obita (Kwo)of palocire in panyul village lopulingi parish, agoro sub county who is a known cattle keeper (owner) in lamwo, My first enter counter with the vice dates back to 1989 where rustlers would come every night to temper with the kraal and at times fire bullets and that was when I was only three years old. The problem dragged on and on. There was a time when all the animals were taken to padibe and we missed milk for some good years up to around 2000 when LRA was at peak. We lost many animals and only took back five alive.
This problem has not been given permanent solution to date. Our grand parents lost animals, our parents lost animals and we are also loosing in any case our children will continue to loose continuously. Forget about acholi war debt claimants ours is fresh and continuing suffering which is not talked about in fora of influence and authority.
Raiders have been changing tactics over time.
-attacking the whole kraal.
-picking five to ten
-picking one one.
-attacking farmers from the garden.
- carrying calves and goats amongst others.
